The company’s Sewage and Reclaimed Water Treatment and Construction Services segment constructs and operates sewage and reclaimed water treatment plants; constructs seawater desalination plants; and provides construction services for renovation projects. Its Water Distribution Services segment distributes and sells piped water; and provides related services. The company’s Technical and Consultancy Services and Sale of Machineries segment provides consultancy services and sells machineries related to sewage treatment; and construction services for renovation projects, as well as licenses technical know-how related to sewage treatment. The company was formerly known as Shang Hua Holdings Ltd. and changed its name to Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited in March 2008. Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited was incorporated in 1992 and is headquartered in Wanchai, Hong Kong.

Beijing Enterprises Water Group Limited reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the six months ended June 30, 2018. For the period, revenue was HKD 10,008,753,000 against HKD 9,126,016,000 a year ago, the increase was mainly due to the increase in revenue from water treatment services and technical services and sales of machineries for the water environmental renovation. Profit from operating activities was HKD 3,804,127,000 against HKD 2,695,121,000 a year ago. Profit before tax was HKD 3,379,442,000 against HKD 2,652,325,000 a year ago. Profit for the period attributable to shareholders of the company was HKD 2,366,116,000 against HKD 1,914,125,000 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share attributable to shareholders of the company were 25.18 cents against 21.42 cents a year ago. EBITDA amounted to HKD 4,450.0 million, representing an increase of 26% as compared with that of HKD 3,540.0 million in the last period. During the period, the Group’s total capital expenditures were HKD 4,255.1 million (six months ended 30 June 2017: HKD 3,841.5 million), of which HKD 241.4 million was paid for the acquisition of property, plant and equipment and intangible assets; HKD 2,536.1 million was spent on construction and acquisition of water plants, HKD 1,477.6 million represented the consideration for acquisition of equity interests in subsidiaries and capital injections in joint ventures and an associate.
