CBS Corporation operates as a mass media company in the United States and internationally. It operates in five segments: Entertainment, Cable Networks, Publishing, Local Broadcasting, and Outdoor Americas. The Entertainment segment distributes a schedule of news and public affairs broadcasts, and sports and entertainment programming; produces, acquires, and distributes programming, including series, specials, news, and public affairs; produces and distributes theatrical motion pictures; and operates online content networks for information and entertainment. The Cable Networks segment owns and operates multiplexed channels; offers subscription program services comprising theatrical feature films, original series, documentaries, boxing and other sports-related programming, and special events; and CBS Sports Network, a 24-hour cable program service that provides college sports and related content. This segment also owns and manages Smithsonian Networks, which operates a channel featuring cultural, historical, scientific, and educational programs. The Publishing segment publishes and distributes adult and children's consumer books in printed, digital, and audio formats. The Local Broadcasting segment owns 30 broadcast television stations; owns and operates 126 radio stations in 27 U.S. markets and related online properties; and operates local Websites in various U.S. markets, which combine the company's television and radio local media brands online to provide the latest news, traffic, weather, and sports information, as well as local discounts, directories, and reviews. The Outdoor Americas segment provides advertising space on billboards, rail, subway cars, buses, benches, trains, trams, transit shelters, urban panels, street kiosks, transit platforms, and in retail stores. CBS Corporation was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in New York, New York.

A $100 Million Lawsuit over the Reboot of CBS Hawaii Five-0

A $100 million lawsuit over the reboot of CBS' ‘Hawaii Five-0’ filed by the talent agent who represented the creator of the original television series appears to be headed for trial next month in a Los Angeles court. The Reporter reported a settlement that was being finalized in the case filed by George Litto, who represented ‘Hawaii Five-0’ creator Leonard Freeman and claimed he was cut out of the profits from the current series, but the parties, which include Freeman's heirs and CBS, couldn't execute an agreement. The Hollywood Reporter reports a hearing on the case is scheduled in Los Angeles Superior Court.

CBS Corporation Promotes Shannon Jacobs to Senior Vice President, Communications

Shannon Jacobs has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Communications, CBS Corporation, it was announced by Dana McClintock, Executive Vice President of Communications, to whom she continues to report. In this new, expanded role, Jacobs will manage the New York-based corporate communications team, helping to create and execute communications strategy across all of the Company’s businesses. She will continue to lead media relations efforts for all of CBS Television’s corporate functions, including ad sales, research, affiliate relations, governmental and legal affairs, program practices and engineering. Jacobs joined CBS in late 2005 as Vice President, CBS Communications Group, a position she assumed as the Company was preparing to become a standalone entity apart from Viacom. Before joining CBS, she served for four years as Director of Corporate Communications at NBC Universal, where she led media relations for a number of divisions including research, standards and practices, legal and regulatory affairs.

CBS Corporation Announces the Promotion of Nina Tassler as the New Chairman of CBS Entertainment

CBS Corporation has announced the promotion of Nina Tassler as the new chairman of CBS Entertainment, and the signing of a new agreement with the company that extends through 2017. In this expanded role, Tassler will lead the Network's Entertainment programming across primetime, daytime and late night, as well as program development in all genres, including comedy, drama, reality, specials and long-form. She will direct a growing year-round programming portfolio that now includes a full slate of original series in the summer and a newly created limited series and live event program unit. Tassler will also oversee Entertainment division matters in advertising and promotion, business affairs, consumer products, digital/interactive, diversity, publicity, scheduling and research. Previously, as Senior vice president of Drama Development for CBS, she developed the highly rated and commercially successful CSI and NCIS franchises. Tassler joined CBS in August 1997 as vice president, Drama, CBS Productions, before moving to the Network as Senior vice president of Drama Development in 1998, eventually becoming President of Entertainment in 2003. Before coming to CBS, Tassler headed drama development at Warner Bros.
