The company offers its products to customers covered by third party payors, such as insurance companies, prescription benefit management companies, government agencies, private employers, and other managed care providers. It has a strategic alliance with GNC. As of March 1, 2014, the company operated 4,587 stores in 31 states across the United States and in the District of Columbia. Rite Aid Corporation founded in 1927 and is headquartered in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

Rite Aid and HealthSpot Announce Plans to Pilot HealthSpot Stations

Rite Aid announced that it has entered into an agreement with HealthSpot to provide convenient healthcare services via private, walk-in HealthSpot stations inside select Rite Aid locations. Rite Aid will pilot the HealthSpot stations in the greater Akron/Canton, Cleveland and Dayton/Springfield markets. Visitors to the HealthSpot station will be able to connect with a network of board-certified medical professionals such as Cleveland Clinic and other major health systems across Ohio through the HealthSpot Network. This broad network of providers enables clinicians to extend their reach into local communities and serve more patients with expanded hours through HealthSpot stations. Most insurances will be accepted.

Rite Aid Corporation Announces Sales Results for the Month and Year to Date Ended October 25, 2014

Rite Aid Corporation announced sales results for the month and year to date ended October 25, 2014. For the four weeks ended October 25, 2014, same store sales increased 5.5% over the prior-year period. October front-end same store sales increased 2.0%. Pharmacy same store sales, which included an approximate 228 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions, increased 7.1%. Prescription count at comparable stores increased 4.9% over the prior-year period. Total drugstore sales for the four-week period increased 5.0% to $2.058 billion compared to $1.961 billion for the same period last year. Prescription sales accounted for 70.1% of drugstore sales, and third party prescription sales represented 97.5% of pharmacy sales. Same store sales for the 34-week period ended October 25, 2014 increased 4.0% over the prior-year period. Front-end same store sales increased 0.9% while pharmacy same store sales increased 5.4%. Prescription count at comparable stores increased 3.4% over the prior-year period. Total drugstore sales for the 34 weeks ended October 25, 2014 increased 3.5% with sales of $16.982 billion compared to $16.410 billion for the same period last year. Prescription sales represented 68.9% of total drugstore sales, and third party prescription sales represented 97.5% of pharmacy sales.

Rite Aid Pharmacy to Open New Store in Downtown Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh office of CBRE announced Rite Aid has signed a lease for a new 9,297-square-foot store at 100 Forbes Ave. in Town Place, an office building the Kossman Development Co. owns that's between Market Square and Stanwix Street. TarquinCore LLC represented Rite Aid in the deal. The lease is for 20 years. It will be the second downtown store for Rite Aid.
