The company offers managed services and cloud computing services to businesses, as well as broadband, voice, and video services to consumers primarily in rural markets. Its primary business service offerings include integrated voice and data services, multi-site networking, data center services, managed services, high-speed Internet, voice services, and carrier services. The company also sells and leases communications equipment systems customized to business customers’ needs, as well as offers maintenance plans to support these systems. In addition, it provides consumer broadband services consisting of high-speed Internet access, Internet security services, and online backup services; and consumer voice services consisting of basic local telephone services, long-distance services, and features, including call waiting, caller identification, call forwarding, and others. Further, the company offers consumer video services; owns and operates cable television franchises; and provides switched access services to long-distance companies and other local exchange carriers for access to network. Additionally, it sells home phones to support voice services, as well as equipment to support high-speed Internet and voice offerings, including broadband modems, home networking gateways, and personal computers. As of December 31, 2013, the company operated a network of approximately 118,000 of fiber optic plant in fiber backbone and local service areas, as well as 26 data centers. Windstream Holdings, Inc. is based in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Windstream Wins $1.1 Million Contract with Michigan DMVA

Windstream announced it has been awarded a four-year contract valued at $1.1 million by the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs to deliver a Virtual LAN Service (VLS) network. As part of the General Services Administration (GSA) Mentor-Protégé Program, Windstream will subcontract the 14-site VLS network to local vendor and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business, Komplete Systems Integrators, Inc. (KOMPSYS). The VLS network will connect Michigan's DMVA telehealth initiative, which features 13 local clinics and one medical health center, on a single bridged domain over Windstream's high-quality Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network. This private and secure network will enhance connectivity to the Michigan DMVA, with the aim of improving veteran patient care and enabling its locations to transmit medical files, share digital imaging and offer teleconference consultations with ease.

Windstream Announces New Television Service, Kinetic

Windstream announced a new television service that provides multi-media services and gives customers a new choice for consuming programming. The launch of Kinetic, Windstream's next-generation television service, is a total entertainment option that leverages the company's existing 100% fiber-backed network to provide customers with a wide array of features that will enable the quality video entertainment. Kinetic will be available to more than 50,000 Lincoln homes starting in the first half of 2015 and will be rolling out to select additional Windstream communities in the latter part of 2015 and beyond. Kinetic will also be available with Windstream's high-speed Internet and phone service, which will be offered through highly competitive rates and bundled packages. Supported by the Ericsson Mediaroom platform, Kinetic offers an innovative experience with features that consumers want from their TV and entertainment providers. With Kinetic, consumers will have access to an entertainment service that provides: Wireless Set Top Boxes: Avoid unsightly cords hanging from entertainment center and move TV around as often as one like without the hassle of disconnecting and reconnecting wires; Whole Home DVR: Watch recorded shows in any room at any time; pause in one room and continue viewing in another -- at no extra cost; Multi-Screen Viewing: Watch TV on all the devices wanted -- TV, tablet, phone, and any other device with iOS and Android platforms; Video On-Demand: Watch shows and movies from an extensive library of on-demand programming; MultiView: Watch up to six channels at one time on TV -- great for game day!.

Windstream Names Bob Gunderman as Interim Chief Financial Officer

Windstream announced that Bob Gunderman has been named as interim chief financial officer. Gunderman succeeds Tony Thomas, who has been named president of the real estate investment trust (REIT) to be created by the spinoff of certain Windstream telecommunications assets. Gunderman is senior vice president and treasurer for Windstream. He is responsible for all capital budgeting, forecasting, treasury and capital market functions, debt management, investor relations and risk management. He previously served as vice president of financial planning for Windstream. Gunderman was vice president of internal audit for Alltel prior to joining Windstream in 2008. He served in various management roles at Alltel including vice president of revenue accounting and revenue assurance, director of financial planning and director of mergers and acquisitions. He was a senior accountant with Deloitte and Touche LLP before entering the communications industry in 1996.
